Oceans Beach to Wave Rock

Well hello...

Here I am again blogging... there is so much to tell and I didn't want to compact it all into one blog last night... so we have been on the road for about 3 and a half weeks, wow seems like longer, we have done so much and I'm missing all my darlings!

Denmark, just west of Albany was a lovely place, we stayed at Oceans Beach, this town is the gateway to the Valley of the Giants... and it proved to be a very soggy experience!! but never the less we wanted to see these majestic trees and experience the feel of the forest.  We'd previously visited amazing Kauri Forests a few years ago but didn't quite make it to the valley.... Unfortunately we viewed it through rain and fairly average weather but honestly it was still amazing!!

Finally the south and the constant rain finally got to us so we decided to head north, our destination was Wave Rock!

Wow what an awesome place, not only do you get to see Wave Rock but there are great walks (especially fantastic given our exercise has been limited).  We did the Wave Rock circuit, Hippos Yawn, Mulkas Cave and the Humps, absolutely amazing places!

We are currently in York not that far from Perth, we are not sure exactly where to next but we will spend a couple of days in Perth then its northward bound to the warm climate, oh yeah!!

Cheers

Stokes NP to Albany

Hello again everyone.... seems likes it has been ages since I last blogged!

We left Esperance and only travelled 80kms or so to Stokes National Park, we got ourselves a nice spot and immediately got our fishing rods into action!!  We caught plenty of Black Bream but only 3 were keepers which we filleted and ate for dinner, our first catch and eat!! :-)  Mind you we had to protect our catch from the local bird life, as soon as you start catching anything they are there!!

Next morning we were off to Bremer Bay, it looked like an idealic little location that we decided to go to at the last minute (literally we did a U turn and decided to go there rather than Albany straight up.

Bremer Bay was a lovely place, we did a quick tour around the town and up to the tower lookout.  We spent our evening updating our ever growing spreadsheet of stats (every stat you could imagine!!) and then snuggled up for a movie.  Next morning we thought we'd try our luck and took our rods down for a fish.... not so lucky this time but it was fun having a go!  We drove around to all the beaches and the heritage trail and luckily for us we came across "Gnornbup Wines" which happened to have a cellar door open, what luck!  We made it back to the van before it started to hammer down with rain....

We found this fish washed up on the sand... weird! Anyone know what it is?

No use staying any longer at Bremer Bay, the bad weather had set in so we thought we'd move on to Albany, no so far up the road!  Once we arrived and started to set up the van, I realised that we'd made a dam stupid mistake (dam, dam, dam!), we left a half can of diet coke in the fridge, omg what a bloody mess this caused, it has splashed around inside the fridge and also leaked out all over the floor!! Oh well the weather was shite so what a great opportunity to clean the fridge! :-) (... note to self, this will not happen again, secure everything before taking off!!)

Albany has so many bike tracks and we'd planned to do lots of riding but alas the weather was really very bad so we did a drive tour instead and took in the many wonderful sites of Albany.  They are very proud of their ANZAC history, they have really made an effort to make the Mount Clarence Memorial something special!

We continued our touring around Albany despite the shocking weather, we visited the Princess Royal Fortress, Mount Adelaide, Middleton Beach, Emu Point, Dog Rock and the historic area, then out to the Gap and the Natural Bridge, the Blowholes and Stony Hill.... just brilliant!!

Hope you guys have liked this instalment, another one will follow very soon!!

Cheers
