Adelaide to Esperance

Finally here is our first travel blog, I must admit it has taken me a while to work this all out - its gonna be a long one!!

Our journey began on Tuesday 6 May when we finally pulled out of our driveway around 2.30pm, we only got to Warnertown the first night.... what an experience our free camp was, right in between the highway and the rail line!!  We didn't get all that much sleep but we were pretty wired and excited about the upcoming journey.  Port Pirie was a quick stop where Geoff reminisced about the good old days! We stayed in another free camp at Kyancutta the second night and then on to Streaky Bay, our first destination the next day.

Stayed in the caravan park for a couple of nights then over to Eba Anchorage, we managed to have Dave over for a BBQ (and cask), which was great but someone was missing (Kerri) and we experienced wonderful hospitality from our friend Jo, what an awesome spot she has there, it was really great to catchup and have many conversations and glasses of wine!  We also managed to catch up with Lee, Ali and Tony - again it was great to see everyone.

There was one thing that we needed to do.... it was very difficult and heart breaking to drive out to my nephew, Mathew Steele's memorial site, we sat there cried, ate oranges and remembered the beautiful, smart, funny and very missed young man that he was... you will live forever in our heart darling boy xoxo :-( :-(

During our stay in Streaky we were treated to some gorgeous weather while we journeyed around the area including Murphies Haystacks, Scearl By, Westall Way and the Bauer Loop... wow what a treat to see all of these gorgeous places!  Streaky had changed quite a bit since I was there last, it really is a lovely little place and we had the best time.  Seeya Streaky, it was great!

Next we got to Nundroo Roadhouse van park for the night - we managed to take a drive out to Fowlers Bay which was a nice little place but alas too windy for fishing!!  Ummmm we did attempt to drive out to Mexican Hat... but I think we took a very wrong turn... into the deep bush and very skinny rough track, so we turned back, oops!

The next day we were in for a treat, Head of Bight and the Bunda Cliffs - SPECIAL!!  and we managed to stay in one of the free camps right on the coast, it was really really gorgeous.... well that was until we realised we had no water in our tanks and our fridge decided not to work on gas!!!  Another sleepless night freaking out that all our freezer contents would be thawed out..... Lucky for the generator which powered the fridge for a couple of hours before we went to bed then the 12v power once we took off in the morning!

Given our water and gas situation we had to make an epic drive to Norseman (735kms!!) Geoff is a machine behind that wheel and luckily all the contents of the fridge survived!  And this time we actually really filled up the water tanks....once we got rid of the dam air bubbles!!  All good though.... and we booked in to see a caravan guy re the fridge once we get to Esperance.

Esperance was only a couple of hours down the road which was great!  Bree and Gary Day (fellow travellers) alerted us to a lovely little camp as an alternative to staying in a caravan park which we decided to take up - its great!  Lovely and peaceful and we have power, loos and shower, bonus plus a great opportunity to share convos around the camp fire with some great people!

Yay we got the gas situation sorted (carbonising around the connection to the fridge) - what a relief!

Geoff and I got on our bikes for the first time in a long time and went for an amazing ride along the most exquisite coastline - I don't think the pictures will do it justice, it was just beautiful!!  but omg I bet we can't walk tomorrow as there were many many hills to climb!!  I think we deserve happy hour tonight!!

We are so lucky, we are "Living our Dream"
